Hi!
I’m Will Cramer.
I've been small scale farming or large scale gardening here at the border of Hillsborough and Cedar Grove since 2008. I grow vegetables year-round, cut flowers especially in the spring, and tend an increasingly diverse plant nursery with a focus on native perennials.
Find me almost every Saturday morning of the year at the Durham Farmers’ Market.
Visit the nursery during plant sale days in the spring and fall or by appointment year round.
The Garden
I grow select vegetables in each season for sale at market. Some specialties include carrots and fennel in spring and fall, over a dozen types of peppers in summer, and chicories in winter.
You will also find cut-flowers at my stand year round. Spring is the biggest season but I have bouquets all summer and dried flower bunches in the cool months. I really enjoy making mixed bouquets!
I grow using only organic fertilizers, and organic pest control if necessary.
The Nursery
I grow a wide and always developing assortment of plants for sale, but I would say they could fit in these categories in decreasing order of focus.
-Native perennials and shrubs
Most of the plants I raise for sale are natives to North Carolina or the Southeast. Almost all of these provide nectar, pollen, or other food sources for native insects. I grow many species type from seed but also have several cultivars that may perform better in an ornamental setting.
-Annual starts
This big category includes vegetable, herb, and flower starts for the home gardener. The largest selection is available during spring.
-Non-native perennials
These plants include herbs like rosemary and lavender as well as some select ornamentals.
-Houseplants
Not everyone has access to garden space but I believe everyone should have plants in their life. I am far from a houseplant expert, which I hope means most of the ones I offer are beginner friendly.
I grow all of these plants using only organic fertilizers and pest control.
I do not sell any plants and discourage growing anything listed on the NC Invasive Plant List
